On holiday in Malta and need a dentist? We see visitors, often the same day
Toothache, a broken tooth or a crown that has come off can spoil a trip. WhatsApp us at any hour and you get an answer straight away; when there is a free appointment today, it is the one we offer you first.

You do not need to be our patient
We see visitors to Malta in an emergency, the same as our own patients. Send us your name and what has happened on WhatsApp, or call, and we offer you the earliest free appointment. A €20 booking fee secures it and comes off your final bill, and every other fee is on our price list, so you know the cost before you come.

What we can sort out during your stay
These are the problems visitors bring us most. Whatever it is, tell us what has happened when you message us, and we will tell you what to do until you are seen.
Toothache
Pain usually comes from decay reaching the nerve, a crack or an infection. We find the cause and treat it, or settle it so you can enjoy the rest of your trip.
A crown or filling that has come out
A crown that has come off can often be fixed back in place, and a lost filling replaced, in the same visit. Keep the crown safe and bring it with you.
A broken or chipped tooth
A sharp edge or a broken corner can usually be rebuilt with a tooth-coloured filling. If the nerve is exposed, we deal with the pain first.
Swelling or an abscess
Swelling means infection, and it should be seen the same day. If it spreads towards the eye or neck, or you struggle to breathe or swallow, go straight to the emergency department at Mater Dei Hospital.
A knocked-out tooth
Hold it by the crown, not the root, keep it in milk and come straight away: the sooner it goes back in, the better its chance.
Pain after recent treatment at home
If treatment you had before your trip starts to hurt, we can look at it, ease the pain and tell you what your own dentist should know.

Finishing treatment before you fly home
Most emergencies are dealt with in one visit. Some treatment, such as a root canal, can take more than one appointment, so we tell you plainly what can be finished before your flight and what can safely wait for your own dentist at home. Ask us for a note of what was done, and for your X-rays, to take back with you.

The European Health Insurance Card, and the UK's GHIC, cover Malta's state healthcare, such as emergency dental treatment at Mater Dei Hospital, not private clinics.
