A Hollywood smile in Malta — what it actually is, planned around your teeth
A Hollywood smile is not a single treatment. It is a planned transformation that starts with your own teeth — straightened, whitened, and finished with veneers only where they are needed — and at every step we recommend what is healthiest for your teeth. Here is what that involves.

What a Hollywood smile actually is
“Hollywood smile” is a name for a bright, even, confident smile — and for the dental work that gets you there. It is not a single procedure. It is a smile design: a planned sequence that can involve straightening the teeth, whitening them, reshaping a few and, where needed, adding veneers — all worked out in advance so the end result suits your face rather than a template. At Apex Dental it is planned on a digital scan and previewed with a mock-up before anything is done, so you see where it is going first.
Our approach is simple: we recommend what is healthiest for your teeth. That means getting your teeth and gums healthy first, moving your own teeth into the right position where that helps, brightening them, and only then restoring the few teeth that still need it. Each step is explained before it is done, including what can be reversed and what cannot, so every decision is yours and made with the full picture.

We recommend what is healthiest for your teeth
Your natural teeth are worth protecting, so we keep as much of each tooth as we can. A veneer takes only a thin layer from the front of a tooth, and sometimes none at all, so we use veneers where they are needed rather than by default. Some teeth do need full coverage, such as a crown, and when one does we will tell you why. Before you decide, we explain plainly what is reversible and what is not.

It usually starts with orthodontics — moving your own teeth
Where teeth are crowded, gapped or the bite is off, the first step we recommend is to move your own teeth into place with clear aligners or braces, rather than cover them with thick veneers. Aligned teeth are easier to keep clean, so the gums stay healthy; the result looks more natural; it lasts longer; and it usually means fewer veneers, or none. Orthodontics at Apex is led by our own orthodontist, Dr Aleksandra Syrico Mallia, with our in-house Orthix aligner as well as Invisalign and braces, so straightening is part of the plan from the start.

Treatment Process
What to expect, step by step
Step 1: Smile-design consultation and 3D preview
We look at your teeth, gums, bite and the way your lips frame your smile, take photos and a digital scan, and plan the result on screen. A mock-up try-in (€50) puts that planned smile over your own teeth so you can see it in the mirror and change it before anything is done — you see the destination first.
Step 2: Health first
A beautiful smile is built on healthy teeth and gums, so anything that needs treating — decay, a gum problem, an old failing filling — is sorted before any cosmetic work. Healthy foundations are what let a smile last.
Step 3: Reposition — straighten your own teeth where needed
Where teeth are crowded, gapped or the bite is off, we move your own teeth into place with clear aligners or braces first. It is led by our orthodontist, Dr Aleksandra Syrico Mallia, and it is what makes the result look natural and last — and it often means fewer veneers, or none at all.
Step 4: Recolour — whitening
Once the teeth are in the right place, we lighten them to the shade you want, so the brightness is your own enamel rather than something glued on. Any veneers are then matched to that lighter colour, which is why whitening comes before, not after.
Step 5: Restore — veneers or bonding, only where they earn their place
Finally, where a tooth is still chipped, worn, too small or out of shape, a veneer or a little composite bonding finishes it. Used sparingly and planned around aligned, whitened teeth, this is where a few veneers can do a lot.
Step 6: The reveal, and keeping it
You see the finished smile, and we show you how to look after it — brushing, cleaning between the teeth, a retainer after orthodontics, a night guard if you grind, and regular check-ups and hygiene visits. Looked after, the result lasts; and because it was done here, we are the ones who look after it.

The building blocks of your Hollywood smile — and when each is used
A smile design uses as many of these as your smile needs, and no more. Each is planned at the consultation, with its cost on our price list, so you know the whole plan before any of it starts.
Straightening (orthodontics)
Clear aligners or braces move your own teeth into place where they are crowded, gapped or out of line — the foundation of a natural, lasting result.
Whitening — €250 home / €400 in-clinic
Lightens your natural enamel to the shade you want, done before any veneers so they can be matched to the brighter colour.
Veneers — from €130 per tooth
Thin facings that reshape a tooth and are added only where a tooth still needs it after straightening and whitening. Composite €130, 3D-printed ceramic resin €220, porcelain or zirconia €450, per tooth.
Composite bonding
A little tooth-coloured composite repairs a small chip, closes a small gap or reshapes an edge — minimal, often with no drilling at all.
A 3D mock-up try-in — €50
Before anything is done, the planned smile is put over your own teeth so you can see it, change it and approve it. The fee comes off your bill if you go ahead with resin or porcelain/zirconia veneers.

How long it takes, what it costs, and who does it
A smile is planned over weeks to months
If straightening is part of your plan, that stage is usually several months of moving your own teeth gently into place; whitening takes a week or two, and veneers a couple of visits. A Hollywood smile therefore runs over weeks to months, and that time is what lets us work on your own teeth gently and in the right order. If you are visiting Malta, tell us when you book and we will be honest about what can and cannot be finished in the time you have.
What it costs
There is no one price, because it is built from the parts your smile needs. A mock-up try-in is €50; whitening is €250 at home or €400 in the clinic; aligners and braces are quoted by case; and veneers are per tooth — composite €130, 3D-printed ceramic resin €220, porcelain or zirconia €450. After your smile-design consultation you have the full cost of your own plan in writing, before anything starts. Quite often the honest plan costs less than a full set of veneers, simply because fewer veneers are needed once the teeth are straight and bright. A €20 booking fee secures the consultation and comes off your bill, and every fee is on our price list.
Planned and done here, by your own dentists
Your smile is designed, built and looked after at our two clinics in Birkirkara — Trident Park in Mrieħel and St Anne’s — with our orthodontist, Dr Aleksandra Syrico Mallia, moving the teeth and our cosmetic and restorative work finishing them. Just as importantly, we are the ones who see you afterwards: the reviews, the retainer, a polish, anything that ever needs attention.
Transparent pricing — no surprises
A Hollywood smile is a bespoke plan, so these are the building-block prices rather than a single figure. You get the full cost of your own plan in writing after the smile-design consultation, before anything starts. You can pay by card, bank transfer or Revolut.
