Straumann implants: premium Swiss engineering for a tooth meant to last

When you are replacing a tooth root for the long term, the implant you choose matters. At Apex Dental we place Straumann implants — a Swiss system with one of the longest and strongest research records in dentistry — fitted by implantologist Dr Jonathan Mifsud.

Why we place Straumann

There are many implant brands, and they are not all equal. Straumann has spent decades researching how implants bond to bone, and the result is a system with predictable healing and a vast body of published evidence behind it. For you that means an implant from a manufacturer that will still be supplying matching components in fifteen or twenty years, which matters for something designed to stay in your jaw for life.

SLActive: engineered for faster healing

The surface of an implant is where it meets your bone, and it is what Straumann has focused much of its research on. Their SLActive surface is hydrophilic, designed to encourage bone cells to attach sooner. In Straumann\'s own documentation this shortens the early healing phase compared with older surfaces, which in suitable cases can bring your final teeth a little closer.

What the Research Shows

The evidence behind Straumann implants

Implant success is not a marketing claim — it is measured over years in clinical studies. Here is a selection of published research on Straumann implant survival. We have linked the original sources so you can read them yourself.

A retrospective study of 1,692 Straumann tissue-level implants reported a 10-year cumulative survival rate of around 98% at the implant level.

A cohort of 4,591 Straumann implants placed in a private-practice setting found a survival rate of about 98% with up to 10 years of follow-up.

A clinical evaluation of Straumann implants reported high clinical performance and survival rates across the patient group studied.
